Overview

  • He inaugurated the new Rs 450 crore terminal at Tuticorin Airport, which can handle 1,350 peak-hour passengers and features 100% LED lighting plus water recycling.
  • He dedicated the Rs 2,350 crore four-lane Sethiyathope–Cholapuram section of NH-36 and the Rs 200 crore six-lane NH-138 port access road to streamline logistics.
  • The North Cargo Berth-III at V O Chidambaranar Port was inaugurated to add 6.96 MMTPA of dry bulk handling capacity.
  • He dedicated three rail projects—electrification of the 90 km MaduraiBodinayakkanur line and doubling of the Nagercoil–Kanniyakumari, Aralvaymozhi–Nagercoil and TirunelveliMelappalayam sections—and laid the foundation stone for a Rs 550 crore inter-state transmission system to evacuate 2,000 MW from Kudankulam Units 3 and 4.
  • On July 27, he will mark the 1,000th anniversary of Rajendra Chola I’s maritime expedition with a commemorative coin release at Gangaikonda Cholapuram during the Adi Thiruvathirai festival.
