- Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in South Goa, which organisers describe as the world’s tallest statue of the deity.
- He also inaugurated the Ramayana Theme Park on the premises, released a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin, and addressed devotees.
- The statue is credited to sculptor Ram Sutar, known for designing the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
- Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Union minister Shripad Naik attended the ceremony, as the 11-day programme runs from November 27 to December 7 with organisers expecting thousands of visitors daily.
