Modi Unveils ₹18,000-Crore Projects in Bihar and Bengal, Opens Six-Lane Ganga Bridge and Kolkata Metro Links

Overview

  • In Gaya, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for about ₹13,000 crore of works, including the Aunta–Simaria NH-31 project with a 1.86 km six-lane Ganga bridge that cuts heavy-vehicle detours by over 100 km.
  • He launched the 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant worth roughly ₹6,880 crore and opened the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur.
  • Two trains were flagged off from Bihar — the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit Train linking Vaishali and Koderma.
  • In Kolkata, he dedicated 13.61 km of new metro sections, including the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar link to the airport, and laid the foundation for the six-lane elevated Kona Expressway estimated at over ₹1,200 crore.
  • The visit included a roadshow with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and campaign-style remarks on the voter-roll Special Intensive Revision, with Modi vowing to protect local jobs from “infiltrators.”
