Modi Unveils ₹13,430-Crore Projects in Andhra Pradesh, Lays Foundations for Industrial Hubs and Power Upgrade

Overview

  • The Prime Minister launched and dedicated projects spanning power, roads, rail, energy and defence during a Kurnool event following his visit to the Srisailam temple.
  • A ₹2,880-crore strengthening of the Kurnool-III Pooling Station will add a 765 kV double-circuit line to Chilakaluripeta and raise transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA to carry more renewable power.
  • Foundation stones were laid for the Orvakal and Kopparthy industrial areas (over ₹4,920 crore), which the PMO projects could attract about ₹21,000 crore and create roughly one lakh jobs.
  • Connectivity upgrades included the foundation for a six-lane SabbavaramSheelanagar highway and multiple rail works such as the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram fourth line and a Pendurti–Simhachalam North flyover.
  • Energy and defence assets were dedicated, including GAIL’s SrikakulamAngul gas pipeline, Indian Oil’s Chittoor LPG plant, and BEL’s night-vision products factory, as Modi reiterated the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal and highlighted a state-announced Google AI hub proposed for Visakhapatnam.
