Modi to Unveil Rs 62,000-Crore Youth Push on Oct. 4 With PM-SETU to Upgrade 1,000 ITIs

  • According to the PMO, the launch is scheduled for 11 am at Vigyan Bhawan and will include the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh honoring 46 ITI toppers.
  • PM-SETU is a Rs 60,000 crore centrally sponsored scheme to modernize 1,000 ITIs via 200 hubs and 800 spokes, structured as government-owned but industry-managed with World Bank and ADB support, with an initial focus on Patna and Darbhanga.
  • 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs in 400 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 states and UTs will offer hands-on training in 12 sectors, with 1,200 vocational teachers trained under NEP 2020.
  • The Bihar package includes a Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for nearly five lakh graduates for two years with free skill training, a redesigned interest-free Student Credit Card up to Rs 4 lakh, and the formal launch of the Bihar Yuva Ayog.
  • Higher-education moves include inaugurating Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University, dedicating NIT Patna’s Bihta campus with a 5G lab, an ISRO-linked space centre and an incubator, laying PM-USHA foundations worth Rs 160 crore at four universities benefiting over 27,000 students, distributing 4,000+ appointment letters, and transferring Rs 450 crore in scholarships to 25 lakh Class 9–10 students.
