Modi to Unveil Rs 18,000-Crore Projects on Two-Day Assam Visit Starting Sept 13

  • The trip opens Sept 13 in Guwahati with Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary event, where a Reserve Bank of India commemorative coin and a new biography will be released.
  • On Sept 14 in Mangaldoi, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for Darrang Medical College with a nursing college and GNM school, a package worth Rs 567 crore.
  • He will initiate the Narengi–Kuruwa Brahmaputra bridge and the Guwahati Ring Road, a project with cost estimates reported between Rs 4,500 crore and Rs 7,000 crore to ease congestion and improve connectivity.
  • At Numaligarh, he will inaugurate India’s first bamboo‑based bio‑ethanol refinery and lay the foundation for a polypropylene unit of around Rs 7,000 crore, followed by a large public rally.
  • State officials say Numaligarh and Golaghat are set for further clean‑fuel investments, announcing tenders finalised for a hydrogen plant and plans for a DME unit, with a combined outlay indicated at Rs 6,000–7,000 crore.
