Overview

  • At 4:15 pm, the Prime Minister will flag off three Kolkata Metro stretches, inaugurating the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar link in person, launching SealdahEsplanade and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay virtually, and riding the Jessore Road–airport route.
  • The SealdahEsplanade run drops to about 11 minutes and the airport link provides first direct metro access to CCU; a new Howrah Metro subway opens, and Mamata Banerjee is reported as unlikely to attend.
  • He will also lay the foundation stone for the 7.2 km six‑lane elevated Kona Expressway, valued at over ₹1,200 crore, to strengthen connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata.
  • In Bihar, Modi will inaugurate the 8.15 km Aunta–Simaria NH‑31 project, including a 1.86 km six‑lane Ganga bridge built for over ₹1,870 crore to directly connect Mokama and Begusarai.
  • According to the road ministry, the bridge will eliminate heavy‑vehicle detours of more than 100 km; the Bihar visit also features a ~₹13,000 crore package including the 660 MW Buxar plant, Muzaffarpur cancer hospital, NH‑31 upgrades, a Munger STP, and two new trains.
