Modi to Launch Year-Long ‘Vande Mataram’ Commemoration on Nov. 7

A centrally coordinated programme will run through November 2026 to highlight the song’s freedom-era legacy.

Overview

  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has scheduled nationwide mass singing of the full song at about 9:50 a.m., with recordings to be uploaded to the campaign website.
  • At the New Delhi launch, the Prime Minister will release a commemorative stamp and a Rs 150 coin marking the 150th year.
  • The Ministry of Culture’s plan is divided into four phases: November 7–14, 2025; January 19–26, 2026; August 7–15, 2026; and November 1–7, 2026.
  • A 70-member National Music Orchestra led by violinist Dr. Mysore Manjunath will perform at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium before about 15,000 invited guests.
  • Parallel events include BJP-organised group singing at 150 locations and state programmes such as Maharashtra’s Mantralaya gathering and district-level activities.
