Modi to Launch Over Rs 5,100-Crore Projects in Arunachal on Monday, Then Open Tripura Temple Works

The trip underscores a coordinated expansion of hydropower alongside upgraded border connectivity under centrally funded Northeast projects.

Overview

  • At Itanagar, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones for two hydropower plants in the Siyom sub-basin — 186 MW Tato-I and 240 MW Heo — with a combined outlay of about Rs 3,689–3,700 crore.
  • The Tato-I project is estimated at Rs 1,750 crore with an annual generation target of roughly 802 million units, while the Rs 1,939-crore Heo project targets about 1,000 million units; both are being implemented with NEEPCO.
  • He will inaugurate a state-of-the-art convention centre in Tawang built for approximately Rs 145–147 crore, designed to host more than 1,500 delegates and bolster tourism and cultural events.
  • Additional infrastructure worth about Rs 1,290–1,291 crore will be launched across connectivity, healthcare, fire safety and women’s hostels, with officials also highlighting the 1,830-km Frontier Highway and Vibrant Village Programme Phase II for border areas.
  • Modi will address a public function at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar with senior leaders in attendance and stepped-up security, then travel to Tripura to inaugurate redevelopment at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex under the PRASAD scheme; he is also slated to meet local traders and taxpayers on GST changes.
