Modi to Inaugurate South India Organic Farmers’ Summit in Coimbatore on Wednesday

Authorities have mounted a large security operation for a three-day convention expecting tens of thousands.

  • More than 3,000 police personnel are deployed across Coimbatore, and the CODISSIA complex has been placed under CISF control for the Prime Minister’s visit.
  • Airport parking is suspended until 6 p.m. Wednesday with vehicle entry barred from noon to 3 p.m., major traffic diversions are in place on Avinashi Road, and a wider drone no-fly zone covers multiple city areas until 7 p.m.
  • The South India Organic Farmers’ Summit runs from November 19 to 21 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex and is expected to draw over 50,000 farmers from southern states.
  • During the inauguration, the Prime Minister will honour 18 top organic farmers and later interact with agricultural scientists from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
  • AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami is reported to meet the Prime Minister in Coimbatore, a move watched for its significance ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
