Overview
- The Prime Minister is scheduled to open the memorial at around 2:30 pm in Lucknow and will address a public gathering.
- The site includes 65-foot bronze statues of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, plus a state-of-the-art, lotus-shaped museum of about 98,000 sq ft.
- Developed by the Lucknow Development Authority, the complex spans roughly 65 acres with an estimated cost of about Rs 230 crore.
- Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes at Vajpayee’s ‘Sadaiv Atal’ memorial in Delhi.
- Cultural programmes are being held across Uttar Pradesh in places linked to Vajpayee’s life, and a separate statue unveiling is planned in Amaravati, as state BJP leaders frame the commemorations within their 2027 Assembly election mobilisation.
