Modi To Inaugurate India’s Largest Cruise Terminal In Mumbai On Sept. 20

Operational since April, the 415,000-square-foot facility advances the Cruise Bharat Mission to expand India’s cruise tourism.

  • The formal ceremony is scheduled at Indira Dock/Ballard Pier, where the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal will be inaugurated by the prime minister.
  • The terminal is designed for up to 1 million passengers annually, with an expected daily throughput of roughly 10,000 to 15,000 travellers.
  • It can berth five cruise ships at once and features 72 check-in and immigration counters to speed passenger processing.
  • Cruise services at the terminal began on April 21 after a flag-off by Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
  • Developed under a 30-year concession with Ballard Pier Port Pvt Ltd and JM Baxi & Co, the project is reported at ₹556 crore and includes parking for more than 300 vehicles near Colaba and the Gateway of India.
