Modi to Inaugurate India’s Largest Cruise Terminal in Mumbai on Saturday

Built under the Cruise Bharat Mission, the terminal targets a step-change in cruise tourism with capacity for a million passengers a year.

  • Cruise operations at the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal began on April 21, 2025, after a flag-off by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
  • The 415,000-square-foot facility can berth five cruise ships at once and handle roughly 10,000 passengers per day.
  • Passenger processing is supported by 72 check-in and immigration counters along with parking for more than 300 vehicles.
  • The project cost is reported at ₹556 crore and it was built to global standards as part of the government’s push to grow maritime tourism.
  • Located at Ballard Pier’s Indira Dock, the launch is being showcased alongside heritage and public-realm upgrades including the Fire Memorial renovation, heritage lighting, and the Sagar Upvan garden.
