Overview
- The inauguration is scheduled at 11 am on January 3 at the Rai Pithora Cultural Complex in New Delhi, according to the Prime Minister.
- The event, titled “The Light & the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One,” presents relics linked to the Buddha alongside related antiquities.
- For the first time, the repatriated items are displayed together with authentic materials from the National Museum, New Delhi, and the Indian Museum, Kolkata.
- Curators have organized thematic sections anchored by a Sanchi stupa–inspired interpretive model with immersive films, digital reconstructions and multimedia.
- Officials say the relics, discovered in 1898 and associated archaeologically with ancient Kapilavastu, returned through coordinated government, institutional and public–private efforts.
