Overview
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the network from Jharsuguda, Odisha, commissioning more than 97,500 mobile towers built at a cost of about ₹37,000 crore.
- The indigenous stack—C-DOT core, Tejas Networks RAN and TCS integration—was developed in 22 months and is designed for seamless software upgrades to 5G.
- BSNL has installed roughly 92,600 sites using the homegrown technology, and officials say the network is already carrying traffic for about 22 million customers.
- Under the Digital Bharat Nidhi 4G saturation project, 14,180 BSNL towers and 4,723 sites by Jio and Airtel will extend coverage to 26,700 remote and border villages, reaching around two million first-time users.
