Overview

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 19.15 km elevated corridor linking RV Road to Bommasandra on August 10 after it received safety clearance on July 31.
  • Initial operations will deploy three driverless train sets running every 25 minutes from August 11, with a fourth set due later this month to reduce intervals to 20 minutes.
  • Jointly funded by the central and state governments at a cost of ₹7,610 crore, the Yellow Line features 16 stations across Jayanagar, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction and Electronic City.
  • Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a 44.65 km Phase-3 expansion budgeted at ₹15,611 crore to extend the network beyond Bommasandra.
  • Local leaders have clashed over credit for the line even as commuters and experts predict up to 10% property price gains and relief from traffic congestion along the tech corridor.
