Overview
- On Nov. 15, the prime minister inspected the under-construction Antroli station in Surat and reviewed progress with project officials.
- NHSRCL reports more than 326 km of viaduct completed across the 508-km corridor along with 17 river bridges.
- The 47-km Surat–Bilimora stretch is in an advanced state, with civil works and track-bed laid, and project sources indicate trial runs are being planned.
- Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has set a staged commissioning: Surat–Bilimora in 2027, to Thane in 2028, and full Mumbai reach in 2029.
- The Rs 1.08 lakh crore scheme is largely funded by JICA loans and is designed to cut Mumbai–Ahmedabad travel to about two hours.
