Modi Opens Semicon India 2025, Unveils Indigenous ‘Vikram’ Chip and $18 Billion Project Pipeline

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 10 semiconductor projects totaling about USD 18 billion are underway and signaled a next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission with a revamp of the Design-Linked Incentive scheme.
  • Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presented the Vikram 32-bit processor from ISRO’s Semiconductor Laboratory to the PM, describing it as India’s first fully indigenous 32-bit microprocessor qualified for launch vehicle conditions.
