Modi Opens Purnea Airport, Unveils Rs 36k–40k Crore Projects in Bihar, Vows Crackdown on ‘Infiltrators’

The visit targets Seemanchal before the state polls by pairing new connectivity with a newly notified National Makhana Board.

Overview

  • Modi inaugurated the new Purnea airport terminal, flagged the first PurneaKolkata flight, and launched rail works including the ArariaGalgalia line and the Bikramshila–Katareah link, alongside the Kosi–Mechi river project and a 2,400 MW power plant at Pirpainti.
  • The Centre formally notified the National Makhana Board, with roughly Rs 475–500 crore pledged for cultivation, technology upgrades, post-harvest support and market development.
  • Framing migration as a security issue, Modi said “every infiltrator has to go,” cited his Demography Mission, and accused the Congress and RJD of shielding illegal entrants while calling a deleted Congress ‘bidi’ post an insult to Bihar.
  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sharing the stage, reaffirmed he will remain in the BJP-led NDA and lauded the Union government’s initiatives for the state.
  • The PM highlighted welfare moves including Griha Pravesh for over 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries and Rs 500 crore in community investment funds for women’s self-help groups.
