Modi Opens Combined Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata, Unveils Armed Forces ‘Vision 2047’

  • The 16th edition is being held at the Army’s Eastern Command headquarters, Vijay Durg, from September 15–17 in the first apex meet since Operation Sindoor.
  • Modi launched the Indian Armed Forces Vision 2047 document, described by officials as a roadmap for a future-ready force.
  • According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he directed the Defence Ministry to swiftly implement concrete steps to boost jointness, Atmanirbharta and innovation.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS General Anil Chauhan, the defence secretary and the three service chiefs joined deliberations on reforms and operational preparedness under the theme ‘Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future’.
  • Kolkata Police imposed traffic restrictions for the visit, and the Prime Minister left the city for Purnea, Bihar, after the inaugural session.
