Modi Opens Aunta–Simaria Ganga Bridge, Launches About ₹18,000-Crore Projects in Bihar and Kolkata

Overview

  • Officials said the Aunta–Simaria project on NH‑31 spans 8.15 km with a 1.86 km six‑lane Ganga bridge built for about ₹1,870 crore, providing direct MokamaBegusarai connectivity and removing detours of over 100 km for heavy vehicles.
  • In Bihar, Modi inaugurated the 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant (about ₹6,880 crore), opened the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Muzaffarpur, and dedicated the four‑lane BakhtiyarpurMokama stretch of NH‑31 (around ₹1,900 crore).
  • He also unveiled a ₹520 crore Munger sewerage project under Namami Gange and laid foundations for urban works worth roughly ₹1,260 crore under AMRUT 2.0, alongside symbolic handovers to PMAY rural and urban beneficiaries.
  • The Prime Minister flagged off two trains: the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit Train linking Vaishali and Koderma to boost connectivity and tourism.
  • In Kolkata, he inaugurated 13.61 km of new metro sections including the airport link, opened a new Howrah Metro Station subway, and laid the foundation stone for the six‑lane elevated Kona Expressway estimated at over ₹1,200 crore.
