Overview
- BSNL’s indigenous 4G combines a C-DOT core, Tejas Networks radio access and TCS integration, and supports software upgrades to 5G.
- The rollout targets more than 26,700 unconnected villages, including 2,472 in Odisha, alongside a Digital Bharat Nidhi saturation effort linking about 29,000–30,000 villages.
- Built at roughly ₹37,000 crore, the deployment includes 92,600 BSNL sites using the indigenous stack, with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel adding over 4,700 towers under the saturation project.
- Officials said the network is already handling traffic for about 22 million subscribers and around 4 petabytes of data daily.
- Some 18,903 sites run on solar power, forming the largest green telecom cluster reported in India, with coverage prioritised for remote, border and left‑wing extremism‑affected areas.
