Modi Launches Bihar Women’s Jobs Scheme, Transfers Rs 7,500 Crore to 75 Lakh Beneficiaries

  • At an 11 a.m. virtual launch, the first-phase Rs 10,000 Direct Benefit Transfer reached 75 lakh selected women, with over 1 crore viewers across district-to-village events.
  • Eligibility targets one woman per family, with the grant intended for livelihood activities such as agriculture, animal husbandry, tailoring, weaving, handicrafts and related micro-enterprises.
  • Delivery is routed through Jeevika under the Rural Development Department for rural areas and the Urban Development and Housing Department for cities, with SHG-linked resource persons providing training.
  • A six-month assessment of recipients’ ventures will determine access to additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh to scale viable enterprises.
