Overview
- The Prime Minister inaugurated the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal virtually during the 'Samudra se Samriddhi' event in Bhavnagar, launching maritime projects worth over ₹7,870 crore within a wider ₹34,200 crore package.
- Located at Indira Dock/Ballard Pier, the terminal can berth up to five cruise ships and features 72 check-in and immigration counters, parking for about 300 vehicles, and shore-to-ship electric power to reduce emissions.
- The facility was developed by the Mumbai Port Authority at an estimated cost of ₹556 crore, with daily operations managed by Ballard Pier Port and JM Baxi & Co under a reported long-term concession.
- Cruise services at the terminal were first flagged off on April 21, 2025 by Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and passenger embarkations continued on inauguration day with boarding for a Cordelia Cruise.
- Operators have announced upcoming calls including Cordelia Empress on September 22, with international lines such as Celebrity, Regent Seven Seas, Crystal, Oceania and Silversea listed among expected visitors.
