Overview
- Service began on January 11 with the newly opened corridor in Gandhinagar now operational for the public.
- The extension runs from Sector 10A/Secretariat to Mahatma Mandir and covers the Sachivalaya complex and nearby zones.
- Five stations opened on the stretch: Akshardham, Juna Sachivalaya (Old Secretariat), Sector-16, Sector-24 and Mahatma Mandir.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off a train at Mahatma Mandir; Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi attended and later rode to Sachivalaya.
- Officials say the link completes the remaining metro connection between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar and is expected to cut travel time and ease road congestion.
