Overview
- The five new Amrit Bharat routes are Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar, Kamakhya–Rohtak, Howrah–Anand Vihar, Sealdah–Banaras, and Santragachi–Tambaram.
- The additions strengthen links between the Northeast, East, North and South and form part of nine new Amrit Bharat services rolled out this weekend.
- Under the Amrit Bharat II rules, non-AC sleeper fares are about ₹500 per 1,000 km with no dynamic pricing, with minimum chargeable distances of 200 km for Sleeper and 50 km for Second class.
- Launched a day earlier, the Vande Bharat Sleeper now runs six days a week on Howrah–Kamakhya in about 14 hours with confirmed-ticket-only travel and fares from ₹960 to ₹13,300.
- Railways has set fleet goals of about 800 Vande Bharat trainsets by 2030 and roughly 4,500 by 2047, subject to infrastructure and manufacturing capacity.
