Modi Flags Off 200 Electric Buses as Delhi’s Fleet Tops 2,000

This expansion under the DEVI scheme aligns with Delhi’s target to electrify its entire public transport fleet by 2027.

  • Modi flagged off 200 electric DEVI buses on World Environment Day, elevating Delhi’s e-bus count to 2,095.
  • The 9-metre vehicles seat 23 passengers and are equipped with GPS, CCTV, panic buttons, voice announcements and accessibility ramps.
  • Modi also planted a banyan sapling under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ drive to support the Aravalli Green Wall reforestation project.
  • Operating on 30 green routes, the e-buses are expected to slash over 250,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually under the 2025 pollution mitigation plan.
  • The Delhi government intends to introduce 2,080 more electric buses by year-end en route to a fully electric public transport network by 2027.
