Modi Expected To Shift PMO To Seva Teerth Around Makar Sankranti

The shift advances the Central Vista plan to modernize governance, with North and South Blocks slated for museum conversion.

Overview

  • Reports indicate the Prime Minister’s Office will move out of South Block for the first time since 1947, with the transition expected on or shortly after January 14.
  • The Seva Teerth enclave comprises three dedicated buildings: Seva Teerth-1 for the PMO, Seva Teerth-2 for the Cabinet Secretariat, and Seva Teerth-3 for the National Security Council Secretariat.
  • The Cabinet Secretariat relocated to Seva Teerth-2 in September 2025, and officials say the NSCS and the National Security Advisor’s office will shift next.
  • Larsen & Toubro built the Executive Enclave for the Central Public Works Department under a Rs 1,189 crore contract.
  • Once vacated, the colonial-era North and South Blocks are planned to become a public museum, supported by a December 19, 2024 cooperation agreement with France’s Museum Development Agency.
