Overview
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the HPCL‑Rajasthan 9 MMTPA greenfield refinery‑cum‑petrochemical complex at Pachpadra on Saturday, completing a ceremony postponed after an April fire.
- The Pachpadra complex was built at about Rs 79,450 crore, has roughly 2.4 MMTPA petrochemical capacity, a Nelson Complexity Index near 17, and will receive crude partly from a local terminal and largely through a dedicated pipeline from Mundra port.
- Officials say engineers repaired the refinery’s damaged central units after the April 20 blaze and restored operations in time for the July 4 inauguration.
- On the same visit Modi opened Jodhpur’s new Rs 480 crore terminal, launched the Modified UDAN regional aviation scheme with a Rs 28,840 crore allocation, virtually laid Jaipur Metro Phase‑2’s foundation, and inaugurated a CG Semi OSAT chip assembly and test plant in Sanand.
- The bundle of projects includes large solar and transmission works, letters for about 54,000 new government recruits, and is presented as a push to strengthen energy security, create local jobs, and seed downstream petrochemical and semiconductor industries.
