Modi Breaks Ground on Rs 6,957-Crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the groundbreaking in Nagaon on January 18 for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor.
The project spans about 35 km along NH-715 with elevated stretches, widened sections, and bypasses designed for ecosystem protection.
Authorities describe goals that include safer wildlife movement during floods, fewer highway accidents, and reduced human–wildlife conflict.
Local residents welcomed the launch and highlighted prospects for jobs and eco-tourism, with women at the event calling the move progressive and humane.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the corridor could cut travel time between Upper Assam and Guwahati by at least an hour and defended the project against political criticism.
