Overview
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhutan for a November 11–12 visit and was welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
- Modi and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck are set to jointly inaugurate the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project developed by India and Bhutan.
- He will take part in the Global Peace Prayer Festival and join events marking the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s 70th birthday.
- The itinerary includes offering prayers to the Sacred Piprahwa relics of Lord Buddha at Tashichhodzong, which are on public exposition.
- Talks with Bhutan’s leadership will review connectivity and development priorities, including progress on the Kokrajhar–Gelephu and Banarhat–Samtse rail links and India’s pledged support for Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan.
