Overview
- DMZ, which launched in early access Tuesday, is available now to MW4 pre-orderers and will open to all players on Oct. 23.
- Players leave from a third-person Forward Operating Base where they manage Operators, stash loot, craft with a 3D printer, use a Gunsmith, accept Orders and unlock Traits that persist between runs.
- The MIA buyback system lets you repurchase fallen Operators at rising cost and Infinity Ward said the in-mode bank is capped at $2 billion.
- Developers say DMZ was tuned to be more approachable than hardcore extraction shooters and offers tools such as stealth, UAVs and a bounty board so players can choose stealthy looting or PvP hunting playstyles.
- Reviewers praised the mode’s loop and Hajin map but warned that paid spawn/options and how full retail servers handle PvP will determine whether the mode stays balanced, and early coverage also noted sharper performance on PC versus a Switch 2 build targeting about 40fps.
