Modern Warfare 4 Beta Opens This Weekend for Pre‑orders, Fully Opens Aug. 28–Sept. 1

The two-weekend beta will act as a technical stress test while giving players an early look at a campaign mission, Warzone’s Zodiac map, and carryover cosmetic rewards.

Overview

  • Early access for the Modern Warfare 4 beta, which begins Friday, Aug. 21, runs through Aug. 25 and requires a digital pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC while the open beta runs Aug. 28 through Sept. 1 and is available to all supported platforms including Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Weekend one includes a playable single-player mission called Entrenched for early access players, plus core multiplayer tests; weekend two adds Warzone’s Zodiac Resurgence map, additional multiplayer maps and larger Ground War scenarios.
  • The beta will let players test all 12 advertised 6v6 maps and the adaptive Kill Block map, which reconfigures layouts between rounds to change sightlines and routes in real time.
  • Players can earn eight beta rewards that carry over to the full game by leveling up (level cap rises from 20 in weekend one to 30 in weekend two), and Call of Duty: NEXT Twitch drops will grant extra items during the event.
  • Technical and platform details include pre-load windows (early access pre-load Aug. 20; open pre-load for Switch 2 Aug. 26), PC requirements that mandate TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, and a marketing push that has featured multiple trailers and an instance of the official account privately sending beta codes to critics.
