Modder Ports Morrowind Into Elden Ring, Calling the Ambitious Project Halfway Done

The creator is seeking community help to turn the showcased map into a playable experience.

Overview

  • InfernoPlus has largely rebuilt Morrowind’s map in Elden Ring with region-specific weather and lighting, and says world generation and most interiors are essentially finished.
  • The current build lacks gameplay and functional AI, and the creator is asking for help with spawn limits, nav mesh creation for pathing, and modernized 3D clothing and armor.
  • Players will need legitimate copies of both games, as the mod reads assets from a user’s Morrowind installation rather than bundling game files, and the project is open source.
  • The effort began in Dark Souls 1, briefly fit into Dark Souls 3, and moved to Elden Ring as its engine scale and community tools proved more suitable.
  • Environmental systems have been adapted to FromSoftware mechanics, including reworked water and converting swamps into poison areas, with dialogue scripting and proper NPC conversions still pending.
