Modder Creates Portable PlayStation Using Original PS1 Hardware

YveltalGriffin, a Florida-based modder, has ingeniously transformed an original PlayStation console into a handheld device named PS Hanami.

The PS Hanami is crafted from an original PlayStation motherboard, which was cut in half and reconfigured to fit into a custom-built, 3D-printed case.
Despite its compact size, the device lacks volume controls, has a finicky power button, and does not include heatsinks, leading to potential overheating.
The handheld uses an XStation optical drive emulator to run PlayStation games from an SD card, bypassing the need for the original disc drive.
The PS Hanami can operate for approximately 2.5 hours on a single charge and features a high-powered display for enhanced video quality.
While the creation is a technical achievement, it does not support games requiring PS1 analog sticks, limiting its compatibility with certain titles.
