Mod Turns Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Into Open-Beta Multiplayer Platform

Community mod offers dedicated servers, Lua scripting plus server-authoritative combat to let players create persistent RP, PvP and custom game modes.

Overview

  • The KCD Multiplayer mod, which entered open beta on September 24, lets anyone who owns Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 on Steam host servers or join a public test server to play together in shared worlds.
  • The build removes the game's story and quests so hosted worlds run maps only and multiplayer activity does not change single-player saves.
  • Server hosts get dedicated tools and Lua scripting to change spawns, weather, fighting systems and game modes while players can use proximity voice chat, emotes and custom characters.
  • The mod uses a server-authoritative model so combat outcomes are decided by the server for consistent hits, blocks and dodges, and the developers say about 50 players run smoothly with 100 players possible on large maps.
  • The release is an early public beta with known bugs and active community testing, and a separate open-beta mod called Kingdoms Connected offers players an alternative as modders iterate on multiplayer options.
