Overview
- The MoD and BEL formalised the ₹2,000 crore contract in New Delhi today in a ceremony led by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
- The acquisition is set to upgrade the army’s air defence regiments by providing advanced fire control radars capable of real-time target data for effective threat neutralisation.
- Designed by DRDO and built by BEL, the systems will support detection of fighter aircraft, helicopters and drones during both day and night operations across all weather conditions.
- On the same day, BEL signed an independent ₹1,640 crore agreement to supply additional fire control radars to the Indian Army under its exchange filing.
- BEL’s order pipeline also includes ₹563 crore in fresh July bookings for systems ranging from maritime surveillance to electronic warfare.
