Overview

• A Star Cement truck collided with a pick-up vehicle on NH-06 near Wahiajer village, leading to the pick-up driver’s death after he climbed onto the truck and was run over.
• The truck driver fled the scene, prompting a mob of around 300 armed locals to storm the Star Cement premises in Lumshnong.
• The mob vandalised infrastructure, damaged CCTV systems, and set fire to approximately 15 trucks within and outside the factory compound.
• Emergency responders, including police and fire personnel, faced attacks while attempting to control the situation and extinguish the blaze.
• Authorities have launched an investigation, stationed additional security forces at the site, and are assessing the extent of property damage.
