The Münchner Kindl-Brauerei is drilling a 180-meter-deep well in southern Munich to source water for its beer, a prerequisite to officially label it as Münchner Bier.
This marks the revival of the Münchner Kindl brand, which originally operated until the early 20th century, as a family-led alternative to Munich's large, internationalized breweries.
The brewery, led by Dietrich Sailer and his sons, aims to challenge established players like Augustiner and Paulaner while promoting local beer diversity.
The first beer from Münchner Kindl is expected to be brewed by the end of 2025, with an official brewery opening planned for early 2026.
Münchner Kindl follows Giesinger Bräu, the seventh Munich brewery to gain the Münchner Bier designation, though both face significant hurdles to secure a presence at Oktoberfest.
