München Klinik Harlaching Completed and Handed Over, Bavaria’s Largest New Hospital

Public backers set a €255 million facility on a path to consolidate care, with first patients slated for June 2026.

Overview

  • Health Minister Judith Gerlach and Mayor Dieter Reiter carried out a symbolic key handover to clinical staff.
  • The new complex spans about 31,000 square meters with roughly 550 beds and brings emergency, cardiology, stroke care, obstetrics, surgery, neurology and more under one roof.
  • The State of Bavaria and the City of Munich financed the build with €255 million as part of a broader investment in the municipal clinic system.
  • An official inauguration is scheduled for May 13, 2026, with a one‑week move planned in June and full services targeted for summer 2026, supported by training and move rehearsals.
  • After the transfer, the old main building will be demolished and the site redeveloped into a health campus with expanded rehabilitation services and a new primary school, with patient‑focused features already built into the new facility such as palliative rooms with projection capability and enhanced pediatric spaces.
