Overview
- The authority cancelled the Rs 14,000 crore Thane-Ghod-bunder to Bhayandar tunnel and elevated road tenders after the Supreme Court warned it to re-tender or face a stay.
- In a June 10 letter, MMRDA asked L&T to submit its full financial estimates, including calculation sheets, rate analysis and explanatory notes, within seven working days.
- L&T’s bid of Rs 6,498 crore for the tunnel and Rs 5,554 crore for the elevated road was over Rs 3,000 crore below Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd’s offers.
- MMRDA said it will consider a roughly Rs 3,000 crore downward revision of the base cost to ensure optimal use of public funds.
- The projects, part of the Mumbai Coastal Road extension, include a 5 km twin tunnel linking Gaimukh to Shilphata and a 9.8 km elevated creek road between Bhayandar and Ghodbunder Road.
