Overview
- MMRDA confirmed it has initiated the Mumbai Transport Stack with JICA, moving the project into design and roadmap formalisation.
- JICA Dx Lab will assist on architecture and development under five guiding principles: open-source design, interoperability, privacy by design, secure and trusted systems, and scalability.
- Once operational, the platform is slated to enable single-journey ticketing across metro, suburban rail and buses, real-time tracking, multimodal trip planning and live parking updates.
- The system is being built as digital public infrastructure with open APIs to support data-driven urban planning and enable innovators to create new mobility services.
- MMRDA has earmarked Rs 25 crore for the project in its 2026–27 budget, while detailed rollout timelines are yet to be announced.
