MLB Umpire Nick Mahrley Injured by Broken Bat During Yankees-Rockies Game

Mahrley was carted off the field and is undergoing medical evaluation after being struck in the neck by a piece of Giancarlo Stanton's bat.

The incident occurred in the fifth inning when Stanton's bat shattered on a hit to left field.
Mahrley was immediately attended to by medical personnel and placed in a neck brace.
The game was paused for nearly 16 minutes as Mahrley received treatment and was taken off the field.
Crew chief Marvin Hudson took over home plate duties for the remainder of the game.
Mahrley has been a full-time MLB umpire since 2023, with prior experience in the minor leagues.
