MLB To Honor Negro Leagues Great Willie Mays in 2024 Game at Historic Rickwood Field
- MLB will stage a Negro Leagues tribute game between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama on June 20, 2024.
- The game will honor Hall of Famer Willie Mays, who began his pro career with the Birmingham Black Barons, and coincides with Juneteenth.
- Both teams will wear period uniforms relating to the Negro Leagues history of their cities.
- Rickwood Field was home to the Birmingham Black Barons from 1924 to 1960 and is the oldest pro ballpark still in use.
- MLB is working with Birmingham groups to renovate Rickwood Field ahead of the game, which will air nationally on FOX.
