MLB Sets Wild Card Series Start Times and TV Plan as Postseason Opens Tuesday

Quadruple-headers on ESPN’s platforms open the best-of-three round on Sept. 30.

  • The Wild Card Series runs Sept. 30–Oct. 2 in a best-of-three format, with four games scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday across ESPN’s networks, including ABC.
  • Chicago hosts San Diego at Wrigley Field with Game 1 Tuesday and Game 2 Wednesday at 3:08 p.m. ET (2:08 p.m. CT) on ABC, marking the Cubs’ first postseason appearance since 2020.
  • Los Angeles will host either Cincinnati or New York, with Game 1 Tuesday and Game 2 Wednesday at 9:08 p.m. ET (6:08 p.m. PT) on ESPN; the Reds hold the tiebreaker for the final NL spot.
  • Spanish-language coverage will air on ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App, ESPN Radio will carry every postseason game nationally, and MLB Network will provide studio coverage.
  • Wild Card winners advance to Division Series play starting Oct. 4, with the Phillies set to meet the Dodgers–Reds/Mets winner and the Brewers awaiting the CubsPadres winner; all Wild Card games are hosted by the higher seed.
