Overview
- Major League Baseball published full 2027 Cactus and Grapefruit League slates on Friday, with exhibition play set to begin Feb. 19 and the regular season currently targeted for late March.
- The schedule covers all 30 teams and prompted clubs such as the Yankees, Braves, Cubs and Mets to post their individual spring calendars and game-by-game plans.
- MLB announced a block of special exhibition games to be played at Major and Minor League stadiums from March 20–23, including matchups at Dodger Stadium and Oracle Park.
- All dates are described as provisional because the collective bargaining agreement expires Dec. 1 and owners have floated measures including a salary cap that the players oppose, raising the risk of a lockout that would freeze trades, new signings and workouts.
- If talks slip late, spring training could be shortened or postponed as it was in 2022, a shift that would hit players, team staff and local spring-training economies through lost work and ticket revenue.
