- Twelve teams qualified: Blue Jays, Mariners and Guardians in the AL with Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers as wild cards; Brewers, Phillies and Dodgers in the NL with Cubs, Padres and Reds as wild cards.
- Wild Card best-of-three series are Tigers vs. Guardians, Red Sox vs. Yankees, Padres vs. Cubs and Reds vs. Dodgers, with games scheduled for Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 if necessary.
