MLB Fixes 2025 Postseason Calendar, Sets World Series Start for Oct. 24

MLB ended its one-year flexible-start trial by fixing the World Series opener on Oct. 24, establishing dates for all postseason rounds.

Overview

  • Wild Card Series begin Sept. 30 with four best-of-three matchups at higher seeds’ parks through Oct. 2.
  • Division Series open Oct. 4, featuring an extra off day between Games 1 and 2 in the NL for pitching continuity.
  • ALCS and NLCS start Oct. 12–13 with scheduled off days after Games 2 and 5, setting up possible Game 7s on Oct. 20 and 21.
  • The World Series follows a 2–3–2 format, opening Oct. 24 with travel days on Oct. 26 and 30 and a potential Game 7 on Nov. 1.
  • Broadcast windows are locked in across ESPN/ABC, FOX/FS1, TBS/truTV/HBO Max and 44 international partners reaching 203 countries in 16 languages.
