MLB and MLBPA Expand Financial Aid for Negro Leagues Players

New program offers annual benefits to players with fewer than four seasons in the Negro Leagues, recognizing their historical contributions.

Approximately 50 additional living players will benefit from the expanded financial assistance.
The initiative complements existing pension plans and non-vested benefits for retired players.
Eligibility criteria will be established by a joint committee of MLB and MLBPA officials.

A special game at Rickwood Field will celebrate the contributions of Negro Leagues players in June.
