Mizoram’s Project Bloom Recognized at NITI Aayog Best Practices Seminar
The Lunglei district initiative was chosen among 19 standout maternal and child health programmes for its community-driven, convergence-based model.
Overview
- Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann presented Project Bloom under the theme “Transforming Health: Breakthrough Interventions” at New Delhi’s Best Practices Seminar on August 7.
- The programme was one of 19 selected from interventions across 329 aspirational districts and 500 aspirational blocks nationwide.
- Key interventions include a Safe Womb Wheels on-call transport service, 12 community-hosted homestays for expectant mothers and house-to-house health and nutrition surveys.
- Incentives for early antenatal care registration and institutional deliveries are paired with targeted immunisation drives and ongoing training for ASHAs, Anganwadi and health workers.
- Since its June 17 launch in Lungsen block, institutional deliveries have climbed to over 72%, early ANC registrations to 70% and vaccination coverage to nearly 89%.
